Why I Don’t Believe in Fairy Tales
Life is not a fairy tale-
I see it more every day-
Cause things don’t always end up ok.
It doesn’t always end with a happy ever after.
Sometimes it’s filled with screams and sobs
Instead of song and laughter.
Prince charming might just give up his search and settle for the next best girl.
All too often the bad guy conquers the world.
Some of us don’t have a fairy godmother.
The pearl in the oyster may go unfound.
Sometimes we give up without one rebellious sound.
Cinderella died in a drunk driven carriage crash before she reached the ball.
Snow white tired of waiting for her loves so she took a gun and ended it all.
Jack found the beanstalk was just too foreboding and tall.
Ariel cried at night thinking more salt water would be her only life.
Hansel and Gretel ran off a cliff when the drugs made them see a candy house.
Robin Hood never even took a stand because he had the courage of a mouse.
Sleeping Beauty cut herself to see if there was something inside that was truly her and not just some fairies “gift”.
Ugly duckling joined a gang just so he could belong.
The tragedies go on and on but I must end my song.
Life is not a fairy tale-
I see it more every day-
Cause things don’t always end up ok.
It doesn’t always end with a happy ever after.
Sometimes it’s filled with screams and sobs
Instead of song and laughter.
