I Have You to Thank for This
All I’m doing is trying to write something down worth reading
But I can’t find the right combination of 26 letters to say what’s on my mind
There aren't enough cliché sayings to describe my thoughts
Or cheesy lines to reveal my heart
If only there was some machine to transcribe what I feel in my soul
Maybe then I wouldn’t feel like nobody speaks my native language
I’m getting lost in the translation
Hiding myself in my own made up world
But maybe it’s better this way
And maybe you’re better off not knowing what I mean
Because understanding the truth is a bit frightening
And by a bit
I mean a lot
Because my truth is enough to break your fragile heart
And I wouldn’t want yours to be as cracked as mine
It’s not a fate I would wish on my worst enemy
That is, if I was brave enough to have an enemy
Brave enough to speak these words I can barely write down
But let’s face it
I just don’t have it in me
And I have you to thank for that
