Roots of the Heart
I am from the land of
Long bumpy streets with
tossed candy wrappers at each side,
I live on
Rough carpets and dirty hallways
under my bare feet,
I dream to
Tall green trees that sing
sweet tunes of peace in
the breezy summer,
I travel
Small distances from one end
of my heart’s rope to another
closely knotted,
neatly kept
I hide from
Dark alleys with hushed tones
at the strike of midnight
Quick exchanges on
the corner of my street
Gone with the coming
of the sun
I am drawn towards
Loud calls to salvation
poems by the One
Who loves me most
Quiet rooms of
forgiveness
Soft whispers of
praise
I exist in
A land of turmoil
and serenity
A two-face kingdom
to call my own.
