Open Canopy
I leave my canopy open
to let my dreams wander
they escape the farthest
reaches of my mind
dream branches reach
to the farthest corners of
my room in its cloaked darkness
with just the crack of glowing
neon from the door's edge
and maybe even then
they traipsed to the living
room where my mother sleeps
on the couch and seeps into
the orifices of her body
and is absorbed where it
reaches the farthest corners
of her mind sharing my
secrets unknowingly without
authorization without my
body perched delicately
on top of hers and
my temple pressed against
hers as my monkey
hangs like a sloth
from the bar on my
canopy in the room
where my dreams wander
