Grappling Hook
Before me I see a great barrier
What to do, what to do
Walk about, finding, found
A sledgehammer shall be enough
I swing with strength, with purpose
I crush a brick
One fricking brick, in this wall
One is not enough
Through the days
The months
Years
Swing after swing
A monotonous chant of bangs, clangs and cracks
My hands and heart grow hard
But my resolve softens
Is there no end to this wall?
One layer after another
One brick at a time, Two with a good strike
But the wall never gets smaller
Only does my willingness to fight the realization
This wall is never coming down
The noise of desperations falls to a deafening thunder of silence
Break
Shatter
Tear up
Cry
“I’m never getting out of here”
Shocked silence
I’m hit on the head by a rope
The wall is now scalable
“I am getting out”
A climb a leap
A world I remember
Its over, the wall is behind me
I am free.
