A Wounded Soul
When I opened that door,
My world collapsed.
The walls came crashing down,
Leaving me exposed, all alone.
Five poor souls, lost to corruption
Unable to return.
Now I shed these solitary tears,
Thinking back to those joyful years,
When I was just a little girl,
And you showed me the world.
Why did you have to leave me behind?
The tears are clouding up mind.
All is lost, don't you see?
You left me behind with all this misery.
But I must remember what the prophet (s.a.w.) said,
Cannot forget,
Not to weep for the dead:
Souls gone before our time.
Family mourned and wept by those still around,
Shall be punished in the ground*.
As an open wound,
I lie here, on my bed,
Hoping for some sleep.
While pains arise,
The good years pass by.
An innocent family:
Gone in the blink of an eye.
My heart shall remain forever broken
As my family has become.
A home no longer open,
For those on the outside.
* Hadith:“The one who is wailed for is tortured on account of it.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
