The game you play
I gave you my all. you snatched it away.
and now I see what game you play.
I didn’t push, didn’t make demands.
I took a slow walk, putting the pace in your hands.
I made no promises, asked none of you.
as we indulged, your appetite grew.
you had your fix, didn’t care about me.
and you left questions unanswered, just let them be.
I didn’t nag. I just let things lie.
and my bleeding heart did nothing but cry.
with each door you shut in my face,
in the blink of an eye, you granted me space.
you’ve lost me now. I’ll never go back.
you rejected my heart, shaded it black.
you were unique in some strange way,
but now I’m onto the game you play.
