Torn to Pieces
How does one begin
To explain how they’re feeling
Put into a few words
The songs of their heart
How does one start
To tell people
What’s really being said
In their mind
I am conflicted
I’ve swam alone
In the ocean of life
For so long
Except for a brief time
That I had a mate
Who seemed to love me
But now I am left again
Treading water
Then he came along
He was there the whole time
But now he seems to see me differently
I have loved him for a long time
But he was hers
The other half of my heart
My companion
How can I betray her
When she loves him still
But I don’t know
How much longer
I can swim aimlessly
But wishing for someone
To swim with me
