Plastic play toy
You judge me
Like I’m a plastic play toy
On a toy store shelve
Lined with plastic
Those shiny plastic eyes
Those perfectly plastic rubber smiles
But not all fit the picture
Some weren’t meant to fit your requirements
They sat
Waiting for someone
Staring as Barbie dolls
With bleach blond hair left
In their pink mini skirts
And plastic high heals
And those green plastic play trucks
Drove out
As little boys pushed them by the rear
Laughing as the car rolled down the street
Into the traffic
But I’m not plastic
I don’t have a label
I don’t have a price tag
You can’t judge me
On that shelve
Next to those perfectly plastic toys
I am wooden
I have no chemicals
I do no shine like a mirror
I have cracks
And dents
And colored lines throughout me
I am not perfect
If you can’t except that,
The Barbie dolls are over there.
