Hallway
An empty hallway
Filled with ghosts
—Memories of a better day.
Such sorrow might destroy most,
But I know I’ll find a better way.
Fluorescent lights
In rows above
—Terrible radiance without life.
Such strength could destroy a dove,
But I know I’ll find a better bright.
My way is not a hallway,
Nor conformity,
But a path in the bright of day
‘Neath the soft, stern boughs of trees
Where, with the nymphs, I can play.
