Lock and Key
The distorted image peers back at me.
I close my eyes and count to 10,
hoping it will disappear.
I slowly open my eyes,
only to see the same thing.
I grab at my hair,
shaking my head.
Why can't I,
look like every other girl?
I step on the scale,
wincing at the number.
I can weigh less!
I can be thinner!
I can be happy!
Eat less,
exercise more.
Eat less,
exercise more.
That's the key to happiness.
But really, no key fits the lock.
The distorted image peers back at me.
I close my eyes and count to 10,
hoping it will disappear.
I slowly open my eyes,
only to see the same thing.
I grab at my hair,
shaking my head.
Why can't I,
look like every other girl?
