My Own True
I am my own puppet master
I work my own strings
I have a voice all my own
I have my own everything
Singing my own true
Dancing to the beat of my hearts drum
I follow no one
When they say stop, I'll run
I'll climb every mountain
I'll swim every sea
When I fall I can pick myself up
I don't need somebody there to catch me
They can label me Strange
They can say I'm not cool enough to talk to
It doesn't make a difference to me
What other people think
I can read, I can write
I can put up a fight
If others feel threatened by what seems to be
Let it be their own faults for not getting to know me
They never take a minute
To just stop and think
Of how their words could tear apart someone's soul
And slice through somebody's heart
But I won't let it happen
No sir, not to me
I will not change my ways for hope of approval from such people
Whose opinions don't really matter in the long run
For I am my own puppet master
I shall forever work my own strings
I have a voice all my own
I have my own everything
