The Girl Was Me
I was walking under a street lamp,
Then the wind blew and I started to chill.
I saw a stranger walk by,
And he said, “How do you do Ma’am?”
I said, “I’m chilled from this chilly afternoon sir, how about you?”
“Yes,” he said it is cold out here.
Then he went on his way,
And I thought I’d never see his kind face again.
But lately I have made a new friend,
And he talks to me every now and then.
He tells me the story of how he met this sweet girl,
And of how chilly it was that day.
Little did I know it was me he was talking about,
Until that one day I asked him where she was.
He said, “She was under a street lamp,”
And that’s when I told him; “that girl was me.”
