I've Always Wanted to Be
I’ve always wanted to be:
The voice for those who aren’t heard.
The thoughts for those who can’t explain their emotions.
The words for those who can’t write.
The listener for the people who need to talk.
The strength and energy for those who can’t fight.
The courage for those who can’t take a stand.
The guidance for those who are terribly lost.
The love for those who can only hate.
The help for those who can’t lend a hand.
The healing for those who are helplessly sick.
The dance for those who have nothing to celebrate.
The blanket for those without security.
I’ve always wanted to be,
Shayla:
A girl who could be all these things,
To those who need it.
