Half a Future
I've lived and died
ten thousand times
spread before my eyes
the blades of knives
thin and alive
like a slit of an eye
I've seen them web
cobweb thin spread
down on a toddler's head
I've seen them weep
and course and weep
that one day I didn't sleep
a week, so weak
I've seen them dribble in
fine skin spread like veins
like light and pains
like light through panes
and pains whispering
delicate sweet refrains
soft promises, wrinkles
on the palms of my skin
Whispering so whisper thin.
