Sisyphus
Destined to roll a large boulder
Immense and roughly round
Heavy as steel, up a steep hill
Only to watch it roll down.
You can try all you want to convince me
That unhappiness is my one fate.
You can choose if you must to just sit and lust
For a life that you could never hate.
But I'll roll my boulder with pleasure
I'll take my role in this place.
For what can I do but ignore all of you
And let happiness show on my face
For I carry something within me,
A trait that you'll try to destroy.
You'll never gain what takes off the pain
That Sisyphus- he had joy.
