I Already Know You
I do not need you to fill some space left empty.
You have been inside of me always.
Though I know nothing of your face, your eyes, your hands, or your scars,
I can feel your heart beside mine.
It beats like an ember-
flickering low, but maintainnig heat enough to warm its companion.
It flutters like fairy wings,
filling my empty spaces
with shimmering breezes.
And I know that in your chest,
beneath so many layers of inconsequential gore,
I will find that small piece of my heart,
whose absence I have to so long felt,
burning and fluttering and filling you.
