Dancing in the Rain
Inch-and-a-half of rain
slish-slosh
slippery yellow boots.
Umbrella,
hidden in a closet
over colder months
black and drab
overhead.
Rain makes music
on the pavement
the empty streets.
the umbrella is thrown aside,
the boots slipped off
and feet pound the puddles
as she dances in the rain.
Her brown hair is soon black
with water from the heavens
which are gray overhead.
Her eyes are closed
her face tilted up,
rain caressing her face.
Her mouth is slightly open,
a small pink o
and she spins,
arms outstretched
not worrying about anyone
or anything.
She dances in the
rain.
