Last summer was the best one ever.

Filled with movie nights, laughs, and lots of fun.

But no summer is ever the same.

This time ‘round,

Good friends have become enemies,

Couples have been broken up,

Past loves are being denied,

People have moved,

People have changed,

And almost nothing is the same.

I am the same,

Sammie is the same,

Just about everyone else is different.

What happened to those who were supposed to be best friends forever?

Last summer was like no other,

And I will never forget the memories made.

But a year has past,

And no one is the same.

Though I wish for peace,

We don’t always get what we want.

I will always remember the summer,

That made me laugh so very hard.

I will always remember the surprise party I threw for my best friend in the whole world.

I will always remember the boys and girls who helped me survive middle school.

They have a special place in my heart.
