When Antarctica Was Mine

They say exotic flowers can't grow in Antarctica
But one grew in my heart

God sowed the seed
He moved into the coldest regions
And even then a sprout poked out of the snow
The edges of Antarctica began to melt
The sprout grew and Antarctica shrank

Very soon the world's landmass was smaller
The flower grew larger
And when it bloomed, no more ice was in Antarctica
Its flower was the lively dark-purple of the evening sky
And its young petals bled blue

When Antarctica was mine
It was a cold, desolate wasteland
But when she stole it,
It became a place of warmth and comfort
Who knows what she will do with my soul?
