Do what you like and like what you do.

story by story
into limitless chasms of guitar silhouettes
children squealing
helicopters approaching
dispensing dark dreams of echoes

enter a melody of grave nostalgia
skip into a ditch filled with worms of gratuity
a cork sticking out of the skulls eye socket
condensation jewels of words sink and penetrate
nulling a free wind into a cage
into metal slavery drenched with past syllables

layer by layer
cement fortification
lines of intrinsic masterpieces
blank eyes mechanically scanning
slowly, slowly
brick by stale brick
hauled with art to form
personalized plastic reality

screaming teacher fades

telephone line carries on

breathe

go back, RETREAT!
WHERE'S MOMMY?
race back home
empty coffins waiting for you
no, no, no
you're a baby
cradle, blanket, and all
sway yourself to silent thoughts
shut your eyes
...where is she?
she's not answering
questions, questions, but why?
don't worry, mommy will fix it
........
oh wait.....

open.
back to business.
so thick, so tall
so rough and uncomfortable
but why not?
say goodbye to the clouds
this is better
this is best
rock, sway, cradle
must protect from pain
must fill every hole
must seal away what is left
must destroy
no more conversation
must complete it.

out on a stampede
i need it, i need it
maybe one last reverie
i'll go and find myself some pleasure
search and destroy
grab and steal
i need it, i need it
shake, blur, boil

telephone still rings

another one
i brought her here
she's loud, obnoxious
but i don't hear anything
there's no effect
on comes the tube
passions turn to dead skin
older, colder, no more fun
...
here it comes.

no control, i'm gone
crack, belch, bottom
bang, crash, rags, glass
hypnotic psychoalert
would you like to me fly?
i think i'll try
why are you running away?
there's nothing wrong
LAUGH LAUGH WHAT'S WRONG?

...
d-....
don't.....
...
...
inhale
exhale
step, step on the broken glass
--don't go--
i need...
...i need...
how can you treat me this way.
methodic, off-tune
i drift off
welcome oblivion
slow beats harmonized
the tube speaks all

i don't need anyone
i don't need an escape
i know what the words say
i don't need anything
nothing.
just leave me alone
it doesn't matter
just makes it grow, higher
stronger
better, better, best
power
carbon to carbon to carbon
nothing.

nothing you can do
it's built, it's complete
nothing can wrench me out
/goodbye.

Yes, I've seen the movie. Which really doesn't give clues to what happened to his mother. But I like your interpretation, even if it wasn't intentional.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that, but perhaps she is dead later in his life when the memories take place? I'm not sure, have you seen the movie?

It's funny I randomly found this poem, because I've been kind of obsessed with The Wall lately. Chilling poem- nice summarization. It creeps me out in a good way. The end is beautiful. One thing, though- one of the stanzas at the beginning implies that the mother has died, when in the story it's the father who dies. Although if that's not your imterpretation then I guess it's fine!
