Letter
I suppose in this I attempt to apologize
Or perhaps my plea will be met with fury
Fury? Perhaps I’m flattering myself into assuming fury.
Fury at furious anger, fury at furious hate
Guilt at still feeling such grace
Even though I left it all to waste
I will try to restore it, but I cannot borrow the strength
And I’ve always been too weak for words
Anyway, something so impossible is for us
For we have done everything to be extraordinary
The disgusting thirst to be something more than human
That we have achieved by being humanity itself
But I can almost feel your lit match
Licking this letter as you read it
Please burn it for as the ashes fall
They’ll become the ground you walk on
And that’s enough for me
