Jigsaw Puzzle
I don’t fit into
Your jigsaw puzzle.
My piece doesn’t neatly lock in next to the others,
Leaving a gap in your
Flawless picture.
My edges aren’t all right angles
Or perfect rounded edges.
I don’t quite fit here, there, or
Anywhere at all.
I’m the odd one out, the one you
Can’t figure out where to put.
Turn me this way and that, but
I still don’t go with the rest.
All you want is to sand me down along the sides,
Adjust a little at the corner,
And make me something less out of place.
But no, you’ll have to jam me in
To a place I don’t fit
Force my non uniformities into a space
Not meant for me.
You can try all your life, but
I’ll still always be that one piece, that
Just won’t fit.
Ever.
