Valor
The black smoke rose above the trees.
The fire burned and burned,
destroying what evidence had been left
and the remnants of the base.
The soldiers marched away,
hand in hand, brothers in arms.
Everything they knew
had been put to the test.
The training they had received,
and the months they had spent
preparing had all led up
to this glorious moment.
From infiltrating the perimeter
to sneaking towards the main base.
From the hailstorm-like firefight that arose
to the torching of the shack.
The sense of victory they had shared,
the triumphant roar of cheers.
The feeling that could never be felt
by anyone other than them.
