Too many to pick!

You hear a Pounding
A heartbeat steady and strong
Suddenly it speeds, pain so much pain
A heartbreak? No
Gulping for breath, stammering
A thud on the ground
The pounding stops and my heart breaks
Like a shatter of glass
Though the window of life
Drops of water leak though that broken window
The crunch of the broken pieces beneath someone’s feet
Then pain so much pain
Then the heart stops
And mine breaks

The author's comments:
The inspiration for this piece was my Dad. He died of a heart attack and I tried to truly capture both sides of the death. His death and then the what it felt. The day he died both of our hearts broke.
