Momma Says

Momma told me to close my eyes,
So I couldn’t see the world.
She says she wishes I had been born blind,
So I could always stay her baby girl.
She doesn’t want me to see the hate,
To see the dirt on the ground,
Or the drunk and their rambling sound.
She doesn’t want me to see the sky,
Because it’s too dark at night,
She doesn’t want me to see the light,
Because maybe, just maybe; I’ll leave her to follow it.
Momma told me she wishes I had been born crippled,
That way I couldn’t walk away and get hurt,
Fall down and see blood,
That way she could just carry me, and I could be loved.
Momma told me she wishes I was never born,
That way I could be inside her,
There, she could protect me perfectly,
There, I would know nothing, I would never go away.
There, I could never stray.
Momma says that she loves me,
As she closes my cage,
Out of everything she says,
This is what hurts the most,
Because if this is love,
Then what’s life really worth?

This poem was just a creative outburst, it's not based on my real mother. My mom is very loving and awesome, so this "Momma" is in no way meant to be her.

There's no god. There's no religion. There's only life, what you do with YOUR life, who YOU let affect YOUR life. Bad things happen to everyone, you just have to learn to deal with them.

this poem really got to me because it reminds me of how parents can be over protective of their children so much to where the child doesnt know how to do anything for itself. and then there are other parents that just throw their children away. OR their are those parents that think they are easy to talk to and that they have a good relationship with their child but in reality the child keeps things from them for whatever reason. i really liked this. it spoke my mind for me. good job:)
