Leather scents surround the tent
Bells clang
As the dancers enter
The Circle.
Colorful regalias invade my sight
As do braids
And barrets,
And roaches.
Mocassins and bare feet
Flatten the grass
In rhythm with the drums
In sync with the voices
Who sing a traditional tune
Of Joy and Welcome to all.

Wonderfully simple...I flash to when I attended my first Pow Wow this year and will return every year every chance I get.
