Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of Gods great love, we are not consumed. His compassion never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Girl with cancer doesn't know
Can't she see she isn't alone?
She cries and weeps, can anyone hear?
As she lets loose all her tears
She hugs her blanket and doesn't let go
I wonder if she even knows
She asks her dad "Am I actually dying?"
And she knows he isn't lying
He doesn't know the actual truth
"But sweetie" he says "I'll always love you"
Then one October morning the truth came out
She couldn't possibly live it out
Tears were shed, a life was lost
Which is always the greatest cost
But she's in heaven now
With Jesus as her friend
Which means this isn't
Really the end

The author's comments:
I wrote this in 6th grade and was encouraged to use it in a school contest so please give feedback if I should or not. This is a true story. On my birthday, October 18th, a girl named Conner died of cancer at only 8 years old. It happened when I was in 4th grade and really affected me.

"Books are a uniquely portable magic." - Stephen King

I love books, and I love technology, but I don't want to see the latter overwhelm the former. I just think books are meant to be pages you turn, not screens you scroll through.

Since you made this is sixth grade, I'm probably REALLY late to post a comment on it, but I think you should definitely show it to people.

It was very sad and very moving, but the end showed that hope is never lost when somebody dies. Great job with this poem: 5/5 for sure! :)
