She Will Not Hide
They laugh
and she runs
from the mocking voices around her
she runs and she cries
All through the streets
All through the night.
She finally stops
she sits on a bench
she sits and she cries
and she waits
For a sign
that life could be different
she searches the night sky
searching for something
to remind her life
wasn't always so hard
she searches and she cries
and she gives up.
She closes her eyes
decides there's nothing to find
she lays down
on the hard bench
darkness closes in
on her mind's eyes...
and she sleeps and she cries
and she dreams...
She is sprawled
on a tile floor
people dressed in white
surround her
it is the same place
the same tears are falling.
She looks around
they are all the same
they are all laughing
laughing at her.
She looks down
she is wearing
only her skin over bones
she is completely exposed.
She looks up
planning her escape
but they are all gone
and she is all alone.
He walks in
he is dressed in white
like the rest
he smiles
he says
"We all have our imperfections
most just hide them
better then you."
She sobs
"And You?"
He tugs aside
his clean white
blindingly white jacket
revealing his scarred
icy, hard heart.
He laughs
"I'm not spotless either
but don't tell them that."
he winks...
She opens her eyes
she smiles
he will be there today
pretending to be
one of them
they are all pretending
all hiding
but she will show them
she will wear her stains...
and she will not run
and she will not cry
and she will not hide...
