Proposed
And I think I’m doing this wrong,
Maybe I was supposed to be deceived,
For this was a masquerade ball,
To take off masks was not common courtesy here,
Though it was pretty and adorned,
Bright and inviting,
I cannot help but feel,
That the face under,
Held a lot more promise,
If only I could see!
I heard words of a trusted one,
That it was worth waiting,
He told me there were wonders here,
In this glass pool,
So I am patient,
Though anxious,
And insecure,
This complex piece was too interesting to let go,
But I can not help but contemplate,
Why she said words that were not true,
If human weakness was to be hidden away,
I disagree,
They say so much more,
Though for now,
I will sit here,
And keep my lips sealed,
Heart open,
Balance on the water’s edge,
Because it means something to.
