Faded, Jaded Heart
I drew a heart in the sand today,
It sat still for a moment,
simply beautiful.
Before the water of the shore approached,
Washing the heart away,
Until only a minor resemblance was left.
The remainder of the fragile heart looked broken, cracked, frayed.
And, I sat there a minute,
Just staring at it in memory,
Reminded of the day you went away,
And left me in your dust.
With that thought I smiled,
Thinking: "This was a must,
Had to happen sometime,
I'm moving on."
And with that I decided I shall leave you in my dust.
And a broken, cracked, smile came upon my face,
And I realized, I'll always love you.
