Call me old fashioned,
but whatever happened
to handwritten letters?
To one marriage for all your life?
To those happy go-getters?
To being free from strife?

Call me a romantic,
but why is everyone frantic
to find their love?
To rush it through so fast?
So fast it must be undreamed of?
"It's true love," they say when asked.

Call me a nerd,
but why have I heard
that reading is dumb?
That it is so boring to do?
They'd rather be bums,
than put reading in their queue.

Call me unique,
not so much antique.
I love to read,
and day dream all the day long.
Don't worry, I won't impede,
I like to stay away from throngs.

What is there to say, Madi? I completely feel you in this piece. Your emotions are really getting through to me, and it helps that I completely understand the place where you're coming from. I absolutely love this piece. The first stanza is my favorite. Keep writing, Madi. This piece deserves every bit of the five stars I'm about to give it.

I don't need a rose. I want a daisy you picked for my hair. I don't want some fancy box of chocolate. I want a pink frosting cookie you made just for me. Lets skip the upscale restaraunt and have a picnic in the park.

Bravo! I really empathize with this piece, having been called all of these names more often than once. I especially love the part about handwritten letters, that really hit it home for me.
