The Power Of Words
Mankind’s greatest gift!
To give and be given.
Written or gestured. Sung or told. Built or illustrated.
There is no language incommunicable by words.
With more power than the greatest sickness,
Of which can tower mountains and sweep over oceans.
And yet, ‘tis also man’s greatest opponent.
Destructive and constructive,
There is beauty as well as vulgar in words.
You need not a gun, nor a sword, or even a mace to inflict.
Words are, in their own right, the dangerous grenade,
The sharpest knife,
The arrow that will hit wherever aimed,
They may bring fire and storm,
But when coming from the heart, may just be the most deadly
Our own sweet addiction, syrup on the dollops of humanity,
The immeasurable gold of civilization,
Words may be free, but can cost a lot.
As words are measures of man,
A man is measured by his words.
So tread carefully! In the land of spoken and unspoken,
Even the silent have something to say.
