I've pondered this so many times.
It seemed so close, so true then.
So much more believable in my thoughts.
It was just so much easier when I imagined it.
But then imagination isn't reality.
And reality was the wedge instead of the anchor,
And made my thoughts the only place I could be with you.
It all seems like a waste,
That I couldn't have shared a lifetime with you.
I couldn't grow with you,
Couldn't learn from you.
Couldn't rediscover myself with you.
I had imagined our whole life together,
But reality wouldn't give us a day.
I hold onto the sweet false reality,
That maybe you could love me back.
But I'm not hurt, you're still with me.
And in my mind, you always will be.
