Baby Brother
He breathed heavily,
Gasping and gulping for the breath of life.
His voice cried out, like that of a
New bell, ringing for the first time.
His new skin, never-before-touched,
Was soft and silky, like a rose petal.
His eyes were a dark brown,
Creamy chocolate surrounded by white.
His hair hung over his ears,
But lacked that of an older person.
He was real, as real as my
Mother and father, who were crying,
Almost as much as he was.
He was as real as my older siblings,
Getting their turn to hold him.
He was as real as I am.
He was, but no longer.
