Someone Else
Someone else sits over there.
They talk to no one, silently wondering,
Watching the world go by as if through a TV screen.
Someone else walks down that hallway.
Nobody knows them,
And nobody has ever tried to gently push past
That steel armor, the stone walls all around.
Someone else waits quietly.
Their wordlessness speaks volumes,
Pleading to fit in,
Begging to be more than just a someone.
Maybe someday, sometime,
They’ll find a way in,
But for now, they’re just
Someone else.
