I’ve got writer’s block today
I really can’t think straight
My mind is running away from me
I’m out of rhymes to create.

I’m not sure what to write about
I just want to travel the world
But I’m too young to drive…
I’m just a 13 year old girl.

There’s so many places I want to go
Like Paris, Rome, and France
I want to paint the Eifel Tower
But… it’s illegal. So I can’t!

And oh! To be in Hawaii, in the middle of September
To watch the beautiful, sandy beach
Laying on a folding chair
Shaded by palm trees.

Or the city of Chicago
It’s real happening there
Only problem, is there’s nobody
With a pizza pie to share.

I’d love to be in London
And moped along the streets
And give out sushi rolls
To everyone I meet.

Oh, Brazil sounds divine right now.
I’d live for the tropical breeze
I’d walk around without my shoes
(I need to tan my feet.)

The art of Italy is calling
Paintings and paintings galore
Why, I’ve never ever
Been over there before!

To hitch a ride in Australia
Upon a Joey kangaroo,
Or to climb the Great Wall of China
That’d be something new!

I’d swim down to South Africa
And paint my face with berries
I’d learn to play the drums
We’d dance to Nigerian tunes.

Yet, here I am, sitting sadly
In the middle of class, wishing I was elsewhere
And I’ve still got writer’s block.
It’s real hard to bare.

I wrote this during our CST testing in 8th grade. It was a claustrophobic classroom; quiet, drab, and dull.
