Broken Dream
Piece by piece
I built my dream
The world
Of knowledge
The world of mine.
The fragile pieces
Built of hope
Days of labor
Nights of work.
The dream of mine.
Glued together
By trembling hands
Yearning
Yearning
The dream of mine.
How desperate
Can one be?
World of the brainless
Not for me.
There was Hope
In that land.
The land of knowledge
Nerds like me
Jewels of knowledge.
The dream of mine.
Dream of Hope
Sent to that land
Hunger for Knowledge
For acceptance.
The dream of mine.
They’ve seen that dream
They really did
Yet like many others
It was
Destroyed
Trampled
Thrown
Tossed
Laughed at
Rejected.
Yet the most of all,
It was shattered.
Broken into shards,
Bits and shards of a lost dream,
The dream of mine.
Shattered dream
Sent back to me
Veiled with words
Such sweet, disguising words.
This dream of mine.
Trembling hands
Tried gluing back
The shattered shards
Bits and shards of a lost dream.
The world of mine.
Shards
Pierced my hands
Pierced my heart
Pierced my soul
Bits and shards of a lost dream.
Tears
Flowing down my cheeks
Crystalline
Mixing with blood
Blood pierced
By bits and shards of a lost dream.
Wounds
Wounds that never heal
Will always sting
Bitter reminders
Of failure.
Yet bitter motivators----
Once will not become twice.
Yet the broken dream
Was not the same
cracks of despair
chinks of anguish
They’re still there.
The dream of mine.
Rebuilding
Once more
With shards of hope
More nights and days
Once more
The dream of mine.
Perhaps again
It shall be
Trampled
Thrown
Tossed
Laughed at
Rejected.
Shattered.
But there was hope.
Hope
From a child’s heart
Pure, stubborn
Fragile.
Piece by piece
I built my dream
The world
Of knowledge
The world of mine.
