Monster
The monster sleeps
On the couch
Sometimes he doesn’t
Wake up in the mornings
The more broken bottles
On the floor
The more hours he sleeps
Those are the good days
But sometimes he’s
Angry and his paws
Are big and strong
The monster is very
Scary
And he uses his powers
To turn my skin
Dark purple
The monster says
That if I tell
Anyone he exists
That the purple will
Get darker
And the pain
Will keep coming
He says I’m too
Young
To understand
That being a monster
Isn’t bad
And it’s all my fault
I live with a monster
And I just
Wish someone would
Tell me
Why.
