It was a secret no one would tell me
Something nobody wanted me to know
I didn’t understand
Why didn’t my cousin come over anymore?
I noticed my parents whispered more often
When they told me
It felt like the sky went black
The world seemed like it was crumbling
I couldn’t believe
I didn’t want to believe
I wanted to cry
I didn’t care if someone saw me
I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs
I didn’t care if someone heard me
But I needed to be strong for my cousin
He needed me more than ever
He fought cancer,
And won
