“The moment you think you understand a great work of art, it's dead for you.”

I must lie down where all the ladders start
In the foul rag and bone shop of the heart.
~William Butler Yeats

I spill this ink to hide my fear
I ransack my tangled mind
So I can shed one final tear
And leave my regrets behind.

Chaos ruled this aching heart
And shame this shackled soul,
But I fight so that I can start
To let go of the old.

And now these empty picture frames
And now these empty pasts
And I am finished playing games
And I am free at last.

I wrote this after going through a trauma. My mind and body are still healing, but I'm beginning to realize that the only way I can ever move on is to let go of the past.
