6,500,004,321 Tears Later
Twelve tears when my dog died
Four tears when I tripped and fell
Three tears as I watched them fight
Five tears when he left
Four tears when I saw her face
Eight tears when I saw her cry
Weeping,
Sobbing,
And always shaking
Two tears when I failed my math test
Two tears when I failed again
Three tears when I left for college
Six tears when he stood me up
Nine tears when I read her note
Her last words she would ever say
“Goodbye,” it said.
Goodbye.
Six billion,
Five-hundred million,
Four thousand,
Three hundred,
And twenty,
One tears later,
And I’m finally all dried up
And there really is nothing left
So now when something makes me sad
I just laugh and laugh and laugh
