I believe that no matter who you are we all leave footprints on this Earth

Little Sarah Small Loved
To sit on her mother’s vanity fair
To comb her honey silk hair
And gaze at the reflection

She’d play around with rouge and powder
Around her neck hung the strings of peals
Her honey hair in ringlet curls
A daring red lined her lips

The window was opened wide
The breeze ruffled the curtains
A sunny day was certain
She added a ring on her small finger

In the closet she found white heels
Added a pink frock, tied with a bow
The pink material rippled and flowed
She paraded around and twirled

When the clouds darkened and the sun retreated,
She closed the window tight
As the storm brought early night
She sat beside the window and watched

A day of sun and a day of rain
The pearls returned to the jewelry box
Took off the heels and walked around in her socks
The dress and ring set back in place

She left the room, locked the door
Walked down the hall, Little Sarah Small
Thought with a bitter-sweet grin
Someday her mom would come back again
