Overtaken
Waves of irritation flow through my body.
Then the tide of all tides washes
upon the shores of my brain.
The sadness hits full throttle-
seeping out of every pore of my being.
My heart clenches as if being held in a fist.
My beating organ
thump-a-thump-a-thumps
to the beat of a melancholy ballad.
My hands itch to do harm-
to rip apart.
They grasp at something,
anything,
wanting to relieve the tingling.
Deep breathing.
Lay down.
Clear my thoughts.
Slow down.
At an agonizingly sluggish pace-
my mind shifts.
I go from waves to the calm after the storm.
Then I hunker down,
and let the emotions pour out
in the form of the
written word.
