The beating of soles
Running on hot asphalt
Pumping arms push him faster
He gathers burning speed
Colors blur and mix
Finish line seared into vision
Pushing past the others
Just to get to the finish
Yards away from reaching
Blocking out spectators screaming
Over one foot, the other seconds later
Single white line signifies races ending
