Seaman's Tale
Seaman’s Tale
My nightly craft is winged in white
swift born, dream bound, and rudderless.
Her captain and crew,
are one with me.
We sail all night over a hundred sleeping tides.
We will go where no seaman’s
ever been before.
Only my craft,
My white winged vessel and I,
know the marvels we have seen.
In the sea,
the eyes can be tricked,
But mine are sharp
so that I can come home again.
“Don’t leave me alone!”
A cry in the night.
A woman’s desperate plea.
“Bring my seaman back to me.”
A cry of anguish, heart-stricken.
Of soul-killing fright.
The love of one, to bring the other home.
