Xiao Dre, when life knocks you down, you can choose, whether or not, to get back up
-Jackie Chan as Mr. Han

I stand here
Tall.
Proud.
ALONE.
Rejected by society.
Out-casted by my peers.
Ridiculed by all.
Quietly standing.
Watching.
Waiting.
For my chance.
For my time.
My opportunity.
But when?
Still waiting,
Still watching.
And I ask myself again,
When?

The author's comments:
I am an outcast at school, partly because of my short temper and partly because of my race. I wrote this poem because sometimes I feel that everyone hates me and I barely have any friends. This poem is about me waiting for the time when I can show my classmates that I'm not a loser and they're not so great after all. But I continously ask myself "when?" because I am so sick and tired of waiting. Some days I'll go in my room and just cry. I don't let anyone see my tears but there are the days where I want to beat my classmates up. The only problem with that is my chances for a good college would be ruined, and, on the track I'm on now, with the majority of my classes APs, standarized test scores at 99 percentile, and Varsity sports, I cannot let that happen. So I'm stuck here, being ridiculed everyday until I can show the world I'm worth something.
