Surprise!
I woke up one morning in the car
trying to remember where I was,
looking around to see if anything was familiar.
“Am I dreaming?”
It certainly wasn’t a dream.
Widening my eyes,
I looked at the highway signs to see
if I could recognize where I was.
“Mom?” as she listened to her music,
she quietly sang to herself.
She saw me awaken,
smiled softly,
and said, “We are on our way to the beach!”
Bursting with excitement,
I knew it was going to be a great day.
