I'm just me
I don’t ride dragons, or recite mysterious incantations
I can’t catch you falling form a burning building
The living dead don’t chase after me and
Princes don’t line up asking for my hand.
I’m just me
A simple teenage girl with a simple life
Wishing for something a little more exciting then
Wondering what I get on my math test
Or what I’m going to eat for dinner.
My voice doesn’t charm fairies,
My hand can’t still storms
I can’t talk to animals or run at the speed of sound
I’m not invincible I’ll bleed if you cut me
I’m just me
Someone who reads fairy tales and horror stories
To let my mind wonder to those with
Impossible lives and connections to the supernatural
The world doesn’t sparkle when I talk
My emotions aren’t expressed by a little symbol above my head
And my tears don’t turn to roses
I’m not the one the knight is off to rescue.
I’m just me
A kid who stays up late and sleeps until noon
The one with calluses on her fingers from writing
Those things that will never happen to me
Things I long for
Just for once I want to go to Narnia, be sorted by the sorting hat,
And have a magic ring so I could save my plain world.
Ne I can’t time travel, or learn any language by kissing
I can’t boldly go where no one has gone before
I’ve never been granted three wishes by a magic genie
And I don’t have a secret identity.
I’m just me
With all my normal faults and gifts
I’m nothing incredibly interesting or entertain
I’m just a red head who writes poetry while
Waiting for my day to come when I can have
That unforgettable adventure I can only dream of
But until then I’ll just be me!
