Ultimate Frisbee
I don't remember what rank we were in,
I've no clue what the points would've been.
I don't remember who caught the last goal,
Don't even know if I caught anything at all.
So here's what I remember, after all was done-
Not the games that we lost, or the number we won.
I remember a water fight, and practical jokes
( Hiding in the hot car - I thought we'd have strokes!)
I remember pool parties, and the Question game.
Finally remembering almost everyone's name.
I remember not making points, but making a friend.
I remember the text messages that we would send.
I remember lap tag, lap tag again... lap tag galore!
... I noticed, we don't really play that anymore...
I remember "love triangles" and teasing, and secrets to share
The sideline was my favorite spot, because my friends were there.
I remember height jokes, when I really didn't mind
And looking for clovers, that I never did find.
I remember walks in the park, I remember when winning wasn't the fun.
I remember when Ultimate was special, rivaled by none.
I remember making friends with the other team,
I remember when I was considered "good"
Before "Ultimate" became "extreme"
Before it became misunderstood.
I remember being in 8th grade,
When I didn't really have much to give.
I remember Ultimate.
Thinking "this is what it means to live."
I remember the A-team, before there was a real B or C
I don't recognize that Ultimate.
Not what it used to be.
